tumbleweed’s tempe youth resource center provides services to homeless and at-risk youth ages 9-21 in the east valley. the resource center, nestled in the heart of tempe, was opened in november of 2002, following the successes of tumbleweed’s phoenix drop in center. tyrc provides basic supportive services on site, such as food, hygiene, and clothing, along with intensive case management services for the homeless youth. the drop in center also conducts outreach to the cities of the east valley to really ‘meet the youth were they are at’, providing food, information, and compassion. in its last operating year alone the drop in center served approximately 3, 416 meals to about 264 youth. eighty of those youth participated in our intensive case management program to create goals and receive assistance in getting off the streets. the center strives to create a safe place for all homeless youth to feel comfortable expressing and discovering who they are and the potential they have!
