Mark learned the piano and violin by the age of eight, and the guitar at the age of 11. During this time, Mark also sang in the grade school choir, as was recognized as an excellent soloist. While participation in these activities waned as the years passed, Mark was always glued to the radio--back when the radio was where you found good music, that is. Since he was an oldest sibling in middle-class family with friends from similar backgrounds, there were not many people around to educate Mark about the music he was hearing. It would not be until his late teens and early twenties that Mark would learn the significance of the artists that he was drawn to in his youth. These artistic influences from hip-hop, disco, funk, new wave, pop, jazz and rock, coupled with the musical training that Mark received as a child, has greatly shaped his ability to recognize and manipulate tonal qualities, musical form, and texture. Mark has been a DJ since the year 2000. His next musical step, like many others before him, will be into music production and composition.
